A hot chase from Revere to Boston ended in a portable toilet near TD Garden yesterday when a bank robbery suspect locked himself in, hoping that the police wouldn’t notice.

But the sharp-eyed cops weren’t fooled and quickly flushed him out.

“I believe it was some port-a-potties, and they were searching the area and they saw one was on red and he was in there,” Revere police Chief James Guido told reporters. “So that was good work.”

The man is suspected of robbing the East Boston Savings Bank on Squire Road in Revere yesterday about 12:30 p.m.

He showed a note to the teller, and was handed $1,000 with a dye pack that exploded in the bank’s parking lot.

A witness told police that the robber then took off in a gold Cadillac with New Hampshire license plates.

Police spotted the car and gave chase into Charlestown, prompting the suspect to ditch the Caddie under a bridge near the Museum of Science.

A Revere police officer was hospitalized when he crashed his cruiser during the chase.

“It was precautionary, just to check him out,” Guido said. “He has a cut to his hand. So I think he’ll be fine.”

Guido said the accident was the result of the officer swerving to avoid hitting the suspect as he ran away from the getaway car.

State police as well as Boston police joined the hunt for the suspect.

He was caught near the TD Garden, in the potty, wearing a New England Patriots T-shirt.

It was the second chase involving a robbery suspect within 24 hours for Revere — Tuesday night, an armed robbery suspect drove his getaway van into a backyard pool.

“It’s been a busy two days,” Guido said at the press conference announcing the arrest.

Guido did not release the suspect’s name, but added that he is under investigation for other bank robberies in the area.
