Text messages between FBI officials scrutinized
“Over 10,000 texts” between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are being scrutinized by Justice Department investigators for antiTrump, pro-Clinton messages, Fox News reported yesterday, following news that Strzok was bounced from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.
Justice officials told Fox News they are redacting the texts so they can be delivered to the House Intelligence Committee.
Strzok worked on both the probe of President Trump’s purported links to Russia and the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s illegal email server. He reportedly was involved in downgrading the assessment of Clinton’s actions from “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless,” apparently forestalling criminal charges. Strzok interviewed both Clinton and Trump’s fired national security adviser, Michael Flynn. He was reassigned to the FBI’s human resources department last summer after the discovery of anti-Trump text messages with Page, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.
