Weekend TV watch

- By MARK PERIGARD

With interest in the British royal family at a fever pitch, thanks to Prince Harry’s engagement to actress Meghan Markle, Netflix’s “The Crown” could not return at a better time. The second season (streaming today) opens in 1956, with Prince Philip coming to terms with his unconventional marriage to Queen Elizabeth.

ID, the true crime network, is making a commitment to upping the quality of its original productions and has landed two prime-time stars, Scott Foley (“Scandal”) and Dave Annable (“Brothers & Sisters”), to star in “Fatal Vision” (Sunday at 8 p.m.), an adaptation of the book about Jeffrey MacDonald, the U.S. Army Green Beret doctor who was convicted of killing his wife and two daughters.

It’s a weekend of military sitcom marathons — that seems to be a thing. Anyway, WGN unspools 19 hours of “M*A*S*H” starting tomorrow at 9 a.m., and promises nothing but fan-favorites plucked from the series’ 11-season run. Decades, meanwhile, remembers Jim Nabors, who died Nov. 30, with a marathon of 84 episodes of “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” (starting tomorrow at 1 p.m. and running through Monday morning).

Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx returns to “White Famous” (Sunday at 10:30 p.m. on Showtime) for the season finale. The executive producer drops in to play the over-the-top version of himself, as Floyd (Jay Pharoah) tries to handle becoming an accidental viral sensation.

James Franco hosts “Satur- day Night Live” (tomorrow at 11:30 p.m. on NBC) with mu- sical guest SZA. Wonder if former cast member Al Franken will stop by? He has a lot of free time now.
