ROCKIN’ THE NIGHT AWAY
Kiss 108 had Boston feeling the beat, with some major performers taking over TD Garden last night for its Jingle Ball 2017.
Before the festivities even started, musician Lauv set the mood with a preshow outside the Garden in front of the ice rink and Christmas tree. He sported a Bruins scarf as he sang and jammed out on the keyboard.
Once the concert was in full swing, artist Sabrina Carpenter crooned “Thumbs” and “Why” while decked out in a black bodysuit with a shimmering overlay. And a T-shirt clad Charlie Puth, who’s also a Berklee alum, entertained everyone with his recent track “How Long” and his classic “One Call Away.”
Singer MAX captivated the crowd with songs like “Lights Down Low,” “Savage” and a cover of Outkast’s “Sorry Ms. Jackson.” But his music wasn’t the only thing that was loud: The former Nickelodeon star was rocking a head-to-toe metallic look, including a bedazzled blazer and silver skinny jeans.
Camila Cabello, who just announced she’ll be dropping her first solo album in January, later took to the stage. The singer split from the all-female group Fifth Harmony — who was also there to perform — about a year ago to do her own thing. She’s since released hits like “OMG” and “Havana,” which she belted out at TD last night. To give fans a taste of her upcoming LP, Cabello now has songs “Never Be the Same” and “Real Friends” streaming online.
Among the other artists rounding out the evening’s event: ex-“American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson, rock band Fall Out Boy, pop quintet Why Don’t We and singer-songwriter Halsey.
You might say it wasn’t such a silent night.
