• GELZINIS: TRUMP FEARS STRONG WOMEN,

- —peter.gelzinis@bostonherald.com

Full disclosure: I winced more than a bit when New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand called out fellow Democrat Sen. Al Franken for his history of sloppy kisses and wan- dering hands. She said Al was a friend, but had to go. And Gillibrand was right. On Monday, she was right again when she joined a chorus of Senate colleagues in calling for the resignation of our Groper-in-Chief, Donald J. Trump.

Referencing the 15 women who have lodged complaints against the president, Gillibrand said: “These allegations are credible, they are numerous. President Trump has committed assault according to these women. The charges should be fully investigated and he should resign.”

Bright and early yesterday morning we got The Donald’s reply:

“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them) is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” he tweeted. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked – USED”

With the exception of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is there anyone, anywhere in the country, who didn’t get Trump’s sneering and leering drift about “begging” and “doing anything?”

The president was assaulting Gillibrand with a revamped version of the Billy Bush tape. But what else would you expect from the same guy who once bragged to Howard Stern that his personal Vietnam was avoiding sexually transmitted diseases back in the Go-Go eighties when he was haunting the fleshpots of Manhattan.

When it comes to taking ownership of acting like a pig, Gillibrand trained her spotlight squarely on the guy in the White House who’s been dodging all questions as he hides out in the Oval Office.

“I think when we start having to talk about the differences between sexual assault and sexual harassment and unwanted groping, you’re having the wrong conversation,” Gillibrand said. “You need to draw a line in the sand.”

And it’s not the squiggly moral line the GOP has drawn, one that would bend to allow an alleged pedophile from Alabama to claim a U.S. Senate seat.

Donald Trump can slime Kirsten Gillibrand as he’s slimed Sen. Elizabeth Warren. But they are much stronger than he is. He knows it … and he also knows they are not going to shut up and go away.
