Bowman, balance lift BC over Central Conn.

Ky Bowman scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Boston College’s balanced scoring that carried the Eagles to an 84-65 victory over Central Connecticu­t yesterday at Conte Forum.

Jordan Chatman added 15 points, Jerome Robinson had 13 with four assists, Steffon Mitchell scored 13 points and Nik Popovic 11 for the Eagles (9-3). BC won its fourth straight. Tyler Kohl paced Central Connecticu­t with 17 points and Mustafa Jones had 15.

The Blue Devils (5-6) lost their third straight after a fivegame winning streak, their best in six years.

Robinson nailed a 3-pointer with two seconds left, giving BC a 43-36 edge at intermissi­on of a lackluster opening half that closed with numerous fouls and sluggish play.

The Eagles opened the second half by scoring 21 of the initial 25 points to take charge. Robinson triggered a 9-0 spurt with a 3-point play.

After that, BC had three consecutiv­e fast-break baskets and drove into the lane easily on a handful of other trips for layups.

Bowman’s basket gave the Eagles a 64-40 lead with just under 13 minutes to play.

Elon 77, Boston University 69 — Steven Santa Ana scored 19 points and the Phoenix (7-4) drilled 15 3-pointers in a win over the Terriers (4-6) at Case Gym.

Cedric Hankerson led BU with 22 points.

Providence 62, Stony Brook 60 — Rodney Bullock made two free throws with 0.6 seconds left and the host Friars (8-3) rallied to edge the Seawolves (4-8).

Siena 87, Bryant 68 — In Smithfield, R.I., Nico Clareth scored 19 points, Roman Penn had 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, and the Saints (3-8) made a seasonhigh 12 3-pointers in a win over the Bulldogs (1-11).

Old Dominion 82, Fairfield 77 — In Fairfield, Conn., Ahmad Caver scored a career-high 30 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime, and the Monarchs (8-3) outlasted the Stags (4-6).

Bradford’s Tyler Nelson led Fairfield with 26 points, including eight in overtime.

Saint Joseph’s 72, Maine 59 — In Philadelph­ia, James Demery scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, Shavar Newkirk also had 19 points and the Hawks (55) caged the Black Bears (3-9).

Binghamton 51, Sacred Heart 48 — In Fairfield, Conn., J.C. Show scored 21 points, including three 3-pointers to help the Bearcats (8-4) score the last 11 points of the game for a win over the Pioneers (5-7).

Arizona St. 76, Vanderbilt 64 — In Tempe, Ariz., Tra Holder scored 25 points, Shannon Evans II added 15 and the No. 5 Sun Devils (10-0) overcame a dismal start to spin the win against the Commodores (3-7).

North Carolina 78, Tennessee 73 — In Knoxville, Tenn., Brandon Williams sank a 3-pointer to put UNC ahead for good with 35 seconds left as the seventhran­ked Tar Heels (10-1) rallied past the No. 20 Volunteers (7-2).

Baylor 118, Savannah St. 86 — In Waco, Texas, Jo-Lual Acuil compiled 31 points and 20 rebounds and the No. 21 Bears (92) used a 21-0 first-half run to rout the Tigers (3-10).

Women’s basketball

Northeaste­rn 71, Vermont 66 — In Burlington, Vt., Shannon Todd netted 22 points and the Huskies (4-5) drilled a schoolreco­rd 15 3-pointers in a win over the Catamounts (2-9).

Boston College 64, New Hampshire 55 — Milan BoldenMorr­is scored 18 points and the Eagles (5-6) dropped the Wildcats (7-4) in overtime at Conte Forum.
