Lottery bids 2017 adieu with big jackpots
The Massachusetts Lottery is seeing out 2017 with a grand finale of jackpots — nearly $700 million dollars worth of potential winnings in three games that have gone months without big winners.
Tonight’s multistate Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $306 million, according to a Lottery statement.
Tomorrow’s Powerball jackpot, also a multistate game, is projected to hit $384 million. Meanwhile, the jackpot for tomorrow’s Massachusetts-only Megabucks Doubler drawing is an estimated $7.9 million.
The cash option on the Mega Millions prize is an estimated $191.1 million, while the cash option on the Powerball prize is an estimated $239.7 million, the Lottery reported. The cash option on the Megabucks Doubler prize is an estimated $6.25 million.
Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will be the 22nd since the jackpot was last hit on Oct. 13, when a $43 million jackpot was shared by winners in Michigan and Rhode Island. The $306 million jackpot is the game’s highest since Aug. 11, when a $393 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Illinois.
Tomorrow’s Powerball drawing will be the 19th since the jackpot was last hit Oct. 25, when a $191.1 million jackpot was won in Louisiana. The
$384 million Powerball jackpot is the game’s highest since Aug. 23, when a record-breaking $758.7 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Chicopee — the largest jackpot ever won on a single ticket in U.S. lottery history.
The $7.9 million estimated jack- pot for tomorrow’s Megabucks Doubler drawing is the highest since March 11, when an $11.34 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in Clinton.
