DREAMING OF SPRING

-

The last thing that bomb cyclone had us thinking about is spring. And yet here were are with the 2018 lineup for Boston Calling, which is slated to take place Memorial Day Weekend at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston.

This year's music festival — running May 25 to May 27 — will play host to a motley crew of headliners: Rapper Eminem will be gracing New England with his presence for the first time since 2005; Somebody told us — wait for it — that The Killers will be taking the stage; and 12-time Grammy-winner Jack White will be performing, sans his other Stripe.

Other acts that you can expect during the three-day extravaganza: Khalid, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Tyler the Creator, Bryson Tiller,The Man, Fleet Foxes, St. Vincent, The Decemberists, Maggie Rogers, Royal Blood, Daniel Caesar, Stormzy, Pussy Riot and Julien Baker.

On the local front, there will also be bands from our native New England, like Belly and Weakened Friends.

But that's not all. In total, Boston Calling 2018 is promising three stages filled with more than 54 performances — and that includes comedians. Among the comics who are booked to have us Bostonians in stitches: local fave and Milton native Jenny Slate, as well as Bridget Everett, Cameron Esposito, Tony Hinchcliffe, Jo Firestone, Max Silvestri and

Martin Urbano.

Oscar-winning actress

Natalie Portman is also slated to spearhead and host a series of “special programming.” But we've heard that before. Portman was supposed to curate a film festival at last year's Boston Calling. It was called off in April and, in its stead, organizers added a comedy experience that included national stars, such as Hannibal Buress and Pete Holmes.

So as you shovel out your car and dream of warmer times, know that a limited number of discounted early bird tickets are now available.

Once those deals sell out, you can grab regularly priced tickets.
