James F. Mackin, 70, of Lynnfield, former Mass. State Police trooper

James F. “Jim” Mackin of Lynnfield, a former Massachuse­tts state trooper, died Wednesday at Spaulding Rehabilita­tion Hospital in Boston. He was 70.

He was born in Plymouth, N.H.

He lived in South Boston and Dorchester.

Mr. Mackin was a 1966 graduate of Boston Technical High School.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era.

He graduated from the Massachuse­tts State Police Class 59 in 1975 and spent most of his time as a trooper at Boston’s Logan Internatio­nal Airport.

Mr. Mackin and his wife raised their children in Lynnfield.

He adored watching Patri ots games with his kids, never missed cheering for his kids at school or sporting events and was a licensed plumber who could fix anything.

He enjoyed taking the family on vacation to York Beach, Maine, and was known to be compassion­ate, kind and generous.

Mr. Mackin is survived by his wife, Lisa Fiandaca; two sons, Christophe­r of Hampstead, N.H., and Timothy of Ipswich; a daughter, Alison Young of Woburn; 12 siblings; four grandchild­ren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lynnfield.
