ARCTIC TEMPS HEAD OUT THE DOOR
Highs to reach mid-30s and upper 40s
Warmer weather is on its way up from the south as an arctic high leaves the area this week, bringing temperatures to the mid30s and upper 40s.
Although there is a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of snow this afternoon, lasting into early tomorrow morning, National Weather Service meteorologist Lenore Correia said near normal seasonal weather is returning.
“It’s so cold right now because there’s an arctic high over us from Canada,” Correia said. “All the air’s coming from the south rather than the north, so that’s why it’s going to be warmer.”
The warmest days of the week are expected to be Thursday and Friday, with a slight chance of precipitation.
“Any precipitation Friday will probably be rain because it will be so warm,” Correia said. “Hopefully some of the snow will melt as well.”
The coldest night will be tomorrow, when temps will be in the teens again, Correia said. Wednesday night’s temperature will return to lows in the mid-20s and Thursday and Friday night will be nearing lows in the 30s to 40s.
Correia said there will be no need to bundle up as much this week during the day.
“It will be in the mid30s Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,” Correia said. “Thursday there will be highs in the mid-40s and Friday temperatures will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s.”
