STARS STUN ON RED CARPET

Culpo picks best-dressed

-

The “Today” show decided to have a little bit of fashion fun with us all harping on the politics behind the all-black attire at the Golden Globes. And Rhode Island's own Olivia Culpo was there to help. “Everyone was standing in solidarity, but they had fun,” the former Miss USA said alongside stylist Brad Goreski and “Today” co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

The fashion influencer, who also happens to be Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola's girlfriend, didn't hold back when sharing her faves from the evening. “Some of my favorites were Dakota Johnson in Gucci,” Culpo said, praising the heavily embellished back of the “Fifty Shades” star's dress.

“I think she always kills it. And she does wear a lot of Gucci, I've noticed,” she added.

Also, on her list of best dressed: “Claire Foy. She went completely power-suit. She looked so different, unlike I've ever seen her on a carpet before. She was wearing Stella McCartney.”

In fact, Foy looked like she was straight out of a noir flick. She might as well have been taking a pensive drag from a cigarette and spewing off French phrases.

Culpo called attention to the “lots of sheer” details that were paraded around the award show. But not all illusions are created equal.

“I liked Catherine Zeta-Jones. I loved Angelina Jolie … the feather detail was also really fun.”

Zeta-Jones of course stunned in a Zuhair Murad gown that left little to the imagination with a plunging neckline and tactically placed patches of embroidery. Meanwhile, Jolie wore a Versace number complete with plumage sleeves.

The fashionphiles also pointed out that velvet made a major comeback on this year's red carpet. Oprah Winfrey, who accepted the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award, personally went for an off-the-shoulder velvet dress that Culpo deemed “stun-ning.” Yes, she used a mid-word pause, so you know she means business.

“I like the glasses, too,” she added. “Such a good touch.”
