Brantley, Charleston chew up NU

Jarrell Brantley scored 22 points and Charleston cruised to an 82-66 victory against Northeaste­rn in Colonial Athletic Associatio­n men’s basketball last night in Charleston, S.C.

Charleston (12-5, 3-2) took the lead for good midway through the first half and built a 10-point halftime advantage. NU (10-7, 3-2) cut the deficit to six points early in the second, but Joe Chealey hit a 3-pointer during a 7-0 spurt and the Cougars led by double digits for nearly the rest of the way.

Vasa Pusica had 15 points for the Huskies, Bolden Brace had 13 and Shawn Occeus and Tomas Murphy added 10 apiece. NU shot 44.4 percent for the game, including 39.1 on 3-pointers (9-for-23).

BU 72, Colgate 58 — Max Mahoney and Cedric Hankerson each put up 14 points, Tyler Scanlon had 13 points to go with 11 rebounds, and Javante McCoy added 10 points for the Terriers (8-8, 4-1 Patriot) in the win over the Raiders (8-8, 3-2), who shot just 29.5 percent, at Case Gym.

Navy 61, Holy Cross 56 — In Annapolis, Md., George Kiernan scored 13 points and Tom Lacey had 12 rebounds to keep the Midshipmen (126, 3-2 Patriot) afloat and sink the Crusaders (4-12, 1-4), who were led by Karl Charles’ 10 points, in overtime.

Wagner 71, Bryant 62 — In Smithfield, R.I., JoJo Cooper had an almost perfect night shooting to total a careerbest 23 points, and the Seahawks (11-5, 4-1 Northeast) overcame Adam Grant’s 23 to beat the Bulldogs (2-15, 1-4).

Norwich 71, Regis 63 — In Northfield, Vt., the Cadets (48, 2-2 Great Northeast) beat the Pride (6-7, 3-2) behind Kyle Booth’s 17 points and 13 apiece from Joe Bertrand and Zygimantas Sirvydas.

Mitchell 94, Dean 86 — In New London, Conn., Hasani Williams had 30 points and 12 rebounds, Alan Morgan had 17 boards and the Mariners (5-7, 1-0 New England) sank the Bulldogs (6-4, 1-0).

Western N.E. 98, Curry 64 — In Springfiel­d, Nick DeGennaro’s 13 points led five players in double figures as the Golden Bears (6-6, 3-3 Commonweal­th) routed the Colonels (1-13, 0-7).

Wichita State 95, East Carolina 60 — Rauno Nurger scored 14 points and the fifth-ranked Shockers (142, 4-0 American Athletic) shook off a slow start to roll past the Pirates (7-9, 1-4) in Greenville, N.C.

Oregon 76, Arizona State 72 — Payton Pritchard scored 18 points and hit two free throws with 13.8 seconds left, helping the Ducks (12-5, 2-2 Pac-12) hold off the No.11 Sun Devils (13-3, 1-3) in Tempe, Ariz.

Gonzaga 103, Portland 57 — Silas Melson scored a career-high 23 points, making seven 3-pointers, as the No.15 Bulldogs (15-3, 5-0 West Coast) routed the Pilots (6-12, 0-5) in Spokane, Wash.

Arizona 62, Oregon State 53 — Allonzo Trier scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half and the No.17 Wildcats (13-4, 3-1 Pac-12) pulled away from a sluggish, close game in the final 71⁄2 minutes to beat the Beavers (10-6, 2-2) in Tucson, Ariz.

N.C. State 78, Clemson 77 — Omer Yurtseven scored a career-high 29 points, and the Wolfpack (12-5, 2-2 ACC) held on to beat the No. 19 Tigers (14-2, 3-1‚ in Raleigh, N.C., after Gabe DeVoe missed the third of three free throws with 0.2 seconds left that would have forced overtime.

Women’s basketball

BU 62, Colgate 49 — In Hamilton, N.Y., Naiyah Thompson and Payton Hauck scored 13 points apiece to pace a balanced attack, and the Terriers (8-7, 3-2 Patriot) beat the Raiders (4-12, 0-5), with Nia Irving contributi­ng 10 points and Sophie Beaudry adding nine points and nine rebounds.

Virginia 68, BC 57 — Jocelyn Willoughby’s 18 points and 11 rebounds led the Cavaliers (12-6, 5-0 ACC) past the Eagles (6-10, 1-2), whose Milan Bolden-Morris had 14 points, at Conte Forum.

Navy 65, Holy Cross 58 — In Worcester, Hannah Fenske scored 24 points and the Midshipmen (13-3, 3-2) downed the Crusaders (7-9, 2-3), who were led by Thomas-Waheed’s 19 points.

Men’s hockey

Salem St. 6, UMass-Dartmouth 4 — The visiting Vikings (7-6-1, 4-4-0 MASCAC) topped the Corsairs (7-7-1, 4-3-1) on the strength of Mackenzie Cook’s two goals and assist and Casey Miller’s goal and three assists.

Framingham St. 3, Worcester St. 2 — Ryan Paul scored a goal with 50 seconds remaining in overtime to give the host Rams (3-9-2, 2-5-0 MASCAC) the victory over the Lancers (10-3-0, 5-3-0).

Plymouth St. 5, Fitchburg St. 3 — Chris Zuccaro and Tim Perron had a goal and assist apiece as the Panthers (11-3-1, 7-1-0 MASCAC) beat the host Falcons (7-5-1, 3-4-1).
