‘48 HOURS’ OF HERNANDEZ
Best-selling author James Patterson will soon bring us a book all about former Pats player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez.
And to get us ready for the release, he’s also hosting a “48 Hours” special that will dive into the life and death of the fallen tight end.
The one-hour episode, titled “AllAmerican Murder,” will air on CBS
at 10 p.m. Jan. 20.
It will follow Hernandez’s life leading up to NFL stardom and how it all came crashing down when he was arrested for the 2013 North Attleboro murder of semi-pro player Odin L. Lloyd.
Patterson plans to give us all the nitty gritty details about Hernandez’s childhood in Bristol, Conn., which include the highs — like his primo performance on the field — as well as the lows, including the traumatizing death of his father. The show will take us to locations that played a vital role in his personal narrative.
Stops include Lancaster’s Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, where he hanged himself in April 2017 just days after being acquitted for a 2012 double homicide in the South End.
He was serving a life sentence without parole for the 2015 conviction that has since been vacated.
The “48 Hours” special promises commentary from people close to Hernandez in life, like his former University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer.
It will also include testimonies from experts with insight into what fueled the former football player’s actions, such as Dr. Bennet Omalu, who claims a severe case of the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy is to blame for Hernandez’s behavior.
