Trump’s ‘Fake News Awards’

... STARRING THE NEW YORK TIMES, CNN, ABC NEWS

President Trump has released his “Fake News Awards” — a damning list of media errors and gaffes with left-leaning, Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman leading the pack for his dire post-election prognosis.

In the list — the latest salvo in the war between Trump and the media — Trump suggests some news organizations have cast aside caution and basic fact-checking to condemn him for what could be major offenses, and some petty ones, if true.

“1. The New York Times’ Paul Krugman claimed on the day of President Trump’s historic, landslide victory that the economy would never recover,” the list states.

The Dow Jones industrial average, which has soared to new highs all year, yesterday closed above 26,000 for the first time.

2. “ABC News’ Brian Ross CHOKES and sends markets in a downward spiral with false report.” Ross was suspended for a month for incorrectly reporting that Trump told former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials before the election — he told him after.

“3. CNN FALSELY reported that candidate Donald Trump and his son Donald J. Trump, Jr. had access to hacked documents from WikiLeaks.” CNN trumpeted the story of an email referencing Wikileaks material — dated a day after Wikileaks had made the material public. The list goes on:

“4. TIME FALSELY reported that President Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. from the Oval Office.

“5. Washington Post FALSELY reported the President’s massive sold-out rally in Pensacola, Florida was empty. Dishonest reporter showed picture of empty arena HOURS before crowd started pouring in.

“6. CNN FALSELY edited a video to make it appear President Trump defiantly overfed fish during a visit with the Japanese prime minister. Japanese prime minister actually led the way with the feeding.

“7. CNN FALSELY reported about Anthony Scaramucci’s meeting with a Russian, but retracted it due to a ‘significant breakdown in process.’

“8. Newsweek FALSELY reported that Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda did not shake President Trump’s hand.” That award was posted with a photo of Kornhauser-Duda shaking Trump’s hand.

“9. CNN FALSELY reported that former FBI Director James Comey would dispute President Trump’s claim that he was told he is not under investigation.

“10. The New York Times FALSELY claimed on the front page that the Trump administration had hidden a climate report.

“11. And last, but not least: ‘RUSSIA COLLUSION!’ Russian collusion is perhaps the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. THERE IS NO COLLUSION!” A special counsel’s investigation so far has made public no evidence the Trump campaign coordinated any attacks on Hillary Clinton with any Russians. It has emerged however that the Clinton campaign paid for a largely discredited dossier containing unsupported claims about Trump, citing Russian intelligence sources, that reportedly was used the FBI under the Obama administration to obtain a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.

Under the winners at GOP.com is a list of 10 of Trump’s accomplishments, among them the passage of the GOP tax cuts and the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Trump tweeted the highlights: “Despite some very corrupt and dishonest media coverage, there are many great reporters I respect and lots of GOOD NEWS for the American people to be proud of!” Trump tweeted at 5:05 p.m. Six minutes later, he tweeted: “ISIS is in retreat, our economy is booming, investments and jobs are pouring back into the country, and so much more! Together there is nothing we can’t overcome—even a very biased media. We ARE Making America Great Again!”
