Smiles can’t mask this brutally oppressive regime

-

Her name is Kim Yo Jong and she’s the belle of the ball at the Winter Olympics in South Korea. She’s young, attractive, confident, and the kid sister of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

You wouldn’t think they were related, as he embodies the physicality of a manatee and she looks ready to anchor the 6 o’clock news.

But they are the same person. She is a true believer in the same cruel, oppressive ideology, and she has proven to be a talented soldier for the same cause. Thought by some to be the real brains of the operation, she was promoted to the politburo last year, having made her bones as the vice-director of the propaganda and agitation department — she sounds like a real people person.

She’s so intrinsic to the dayto-day operations of the tyrannical regime that a few years ago there was speculation she had assumed power when her brother hadn’t been seen for a time.

Kim Yo Jong has been dispatched to the Winter Olympics, making her the first member of the Kim dynasty to ever visit South Korea.

Despite the “charm offensive,” Kim Yo Jong is bad news. North Korea continues in its murderous ways and she is an integral part of the thug regime, maybe the most integral. She is there to gather intel, manipulate leadership and the press, and use the alluring prospect of a united, peaceful Korea to throw off sanctions and provide cover for their rapidly progressing nuclear program.

She wasted no time making friends and influencing people.

At the opening ceremony in Pyeongchang, she shot an icy glare at Vice President Mike Pence while sitting behind him, a move that instantly endeared her to the multitudes of Trump haters around the world.

She warmed hearts when she signed South Korea’s presidential guestbook, writing, “I hope Pyongyang and Seoul get closer in our people’s hearts and move forward the future of prosperous unification.”

Pitter patter. Pitter patter. Then, yesterday, she delivered an invitation to South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit North Korea after the Olympics.

Oh, Kim Yo Jong, you had us at “Annyeonghaseyo.”

Liberal media outlets like CNN could take no more. CNN splashed the headline “Kim Jong Un’s sister is stealing the show at the Winter Olympics” across its website, while many more scribes beamed with pride about the “Ivanka Trump of North Korea.”

Finally, a millennial businesswoman they can get behind. Too bad she’s in the business of brutality.
