Edward G. Curran, 85, resident of Sandwich

Edward G. Curran of Sandwich, formerly of Weymouth and Braintree, died Saturday. He was 85.

He was a graduate of Thayer Academy and attended Harvard University.

He served in the Army.

Mr. Curran began his career as a programmer at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co., where he worked for 32 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5027 and the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club.

He enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard and cooking during his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Darrylle A. (Donahue); three daughters, Lisa Curran Matte of South Weymouth, Nancy Curran Harrington of Weymouth and Susan E. of Hingham; two sons, Edward G. Jr. of Boston and Daniel D. of Sandwich; a sister, Marion C. Kehoe of Plymouth; seven grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth.
