Roberta M. McHugh, 78, resident of Weymouth, bookkeeper, waitress

Roberta M. (Ampolos) McHugh of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died Wednesday. She was 78.

She was employed as a bookkeeper at the family business, J B Engineerin­g in Rockland.

She previously worked as a waitress at Page’s restaurant and part time at Pyramid Printing.

She is survived by her husband James N.; two sons, Jimmy and Scott of Weymouth; two daughters, Lynne Carey of Rockland and Tracy of Pembroke; two sisters, Terry Sloan of Whitman and Barbara Consalvi of South Weymouth and nine grandchild­ren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.

Billy Henderson, prep coach, UGA star, at 89

ATHENS, Ga. — Billy Henderson, a two-sport athlete at the University of Georgia before a long high school football coaching career that included three state championsh­ips at Clarke Central High School, has died.

The University of Georgia says Mr. Henderson died Wednesday at the age of 89. Clarke Central athletic director Jon Ward said Henderson’s son-in-law Steve Brooks informed school officials of his death.

Mr. Henderson’s overall record of 285-107-16 included 222 wins at Athens’ Clarke Central High. Mr. Henderson coached at Macon’s Willingham High and Mount DeSales from 1958-73 before his return to Athens to coach 23 seasons at Athens High and Clarke Central, where he won state titles in 1977, 1979 and 1985.

Mr. Henderson was a three-time MVP in baseball at Georgia who also played on the Bulldogs’ 1946 and 1948 Southeaste­rn Conference championsh­ip football teams. He played two years in the Chicago Cubs organizati­on before beginning his coaching career.
