ELLIE FUND ROLLS OUT RED CARPET

-

While Hollywood gets all gussied up for the Academy Awards, the Hub will be rolling out a red carpet of its own. The Ellie Fund is holding its 22nd Annual Red Carpet Gala, where we can have a taste of the spotlight.

Taking place on March 4, this year’s Ellie Fund fete is asking all local cinephiles and philanthropists to slap on their black-tie best and head to the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The party, presented by WCVB (Ch. 5), promises to have guests that are part of Boston’s best.

Among the notable names expected at the event: Anchors Emily Riemer and Ben Simmoneau, who will play host on the red carpet, as well as their evening colleagues Maria Stephanos and Ed Harding, who will serve as emcees. Walmart’s Director of Public Affairs and State and Local Government Relations, Chris Buchanan, will also be in the crowd as he accepts the 2018 Rose Award for his continued support of the nonprofit.

To ease into the event, guests will be treated to a cocktail hour, where, in addition to wine and beer, they can drink in live music from violinist Rhett Price. And if we’re talking food — and you know we are — there’ll be a selection of chef stations that boast bountiful bites from some of the city’s prime spots, like Grill 23, Island Creek Oyster Bar and Oak and Rowan.

After all of that noshing, people will hopefully work up an appetite for generosity. The gala will feature both live and silent auctions, before giving folks a front row seat to a telecast of the Oscars, as well as live entertainment from Louie Bello and the Northern Lights Band. And just like at the award show, guests will go home with swanky swag bags filled with local luxe products.

Tickets for this Ellie Fund gala are priced at $350 a pop. Proceeds will provide Massachusetts breast cancer patients and their families essential services — from prepared meals and groceries, to child care and transportation to their medical appointments.
