Cops: Man stole ex-girlfriend’s weed
A Fall River man facing larceny charges for allegedly swiping his ex-girlfriend’s weed stash out of her lockbox as she slept says he’s been wrongly accused.
“The whole story ... I don’t even smoke marijuana,” Michael Wahl, 27, told the Herald yesterday, hours after Fall River police issued a press release detailing his arrest Tuesday for allegedly stealing marijuana and cash out of his ex-girlfriend’s safe.
“I left her house. I didn’t even touch her safe,” Wahl said. “I don’t know the password.”
Wahl’s 30-year-old ex called Fall River cops about 12:30 p.m. to report that cash and weed were missing from the safe inside her Robeson Street apartment, police said. The woman told the officers she allowed Wahl into her home about 6 a.m., and the two talked for about an hourand-a-half before falling asleep on her bed.
She told police that when she woke up, Wahl was gone — and so were the cash and “personal use marijuana” that she was keeping in an unlocked safe.

said, suggested Wahl left at about 11:30 a.m. He was the only person to enter her apartment prior to the pot and money going missing, she said.
Wahl was later arrested at his home on charges of larceny from a building and breaking and entering into a depository, police said.
But Wahl said his exgirlfriend — with whom he’s been “on and off for 2 1⁄2 years” — only accused him of stealing from her after they had an argument.
After being released on $40 bail, Wahl called his arrest “inconvenient” and stressed he doesn’t have to steal money because his mom generously lends him cash.
“I’m not mad at her. It is what it is,” Wahl said. “I don’t think we’re getting back together.”
Attempts to reach Wahl’s ex-girlfriend were unsuccessful last night.
