Stone distances from ex-Trump aide after tirade
Former Trump adviser Roger Stone, author of “The Making of the President 2016: How Donald Trump Orchestrated a Revolution,” joined Boston Herald Radio’s “Rundown” program yesterday, where he talked about Sam Nunberg’s controversial media blitz after receiving a subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller.
Q: We know that Sam Nunberg on Monday had that media tour where he was all over the place; it was performance art some would say. What was your reaction to that?
A: Sam is obviously a tormented individual . ... He clearly has his demons. He was not speaking on my behest or by my direction or on my advice, I would not have advised him to ignore a documentary request from the special counsel. In my own case, since I was a longtime adviser and supporter of the president and part of his campaign early on, it’s not unreasonable that people would want to see emails and memos that I’ve written . ... They won’t find any Russian collusion. None exists. Nor will they find any material from WikiLeaks because I never received any material from WikiLeaks. I also never received any materials from the Russians, whoever the Democrats say that is. Therefore I didn’t pass anything on to candidate Trump or the Trump campaign as some have irresponsibly alleged in the mainstream media. I testified under oath at length about my contacts with WikiLeaks or lack thereof. The idea that I was working in collaboration with them or that I had advanced notice of the content or source or the specific timing of their disclosures is false.
Q: In that interview earlier this week, Sam Nunberg said that Carter Page colluded with Russia. True or false? Any knowledge of that?
A: That’s not true . ... Nunberg said a number of things that were contradictory, “They’ve got something on Trump,” “They’ve got nothing on Trump,” “I don’t know what they have, they have something,” “I don’t know what they have, he may have done something.” “He may have done nothing.” It was virtually incoherent.
