Nikita Kucherov scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 victory against the Montreal Canadiens yesterday in Tampa.

20th of the season. Kucherov tied it late in the third with his 34th goal of the season. Louis Domingue made 27 saves and stopped 3-of-4 shooters in the shootout.

Brayden Point also scored in the shootout for Tampa Bay, his 10th conversion in 15 career shootout attempts.

Artturi Lehkonen and Alex Galchenyuk scored for Montreal. Antti Niemi finished with 32 saves, including three in overtime.

Johnson became the sixth player to reach 20 goals this season for Tampa Bay.

Maple Leafs 5, Penguins 2 — Nazem Kadri scored twice and Toronto topped visiting Pittsburgh to snap a fourgame losing streak.

Kasperi Kapanen, Mitch Marner and Patrick Marleau (empty-netter) also scored to help the Maple Leafs get their franchise-record 10th straight home win. Frederik Andersen stopped 38 shots.

Sidney Crosby and Patrick Hornqvist scored for the Penguins, who had won three straight and 9-of-12.

Panthers 4, Rangers 3 — In Sunrise, Fla., Vincent Trocheck scored the deciding goal in the shootout as Florida recorded its franchiser­ecord eighth straight home win, against New York.

Frank Vatrano, in his Panthers debut, Jonathan Huberdeau and Jamie McGinn also scored for the winners.

The Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist (32 saves) became the 15th goalie in league history to play in 800 career games.

Capitals 2, Sharks 0 — Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves for his fifth career shutout and Nicklas Backstrom scored late in the second period to help Washington salvage the final game of a three-stop California swing with the win against San Jose.

Lars Eller’s empty-net goal sealed the victory for the Capitals.

Flyers 2, Jets 1 — Claude Giroux and Andrew MacDonald scored in the second period and host Philadelph­ia overcame Patrik Laine’s 40th goal of the season to snap a five-game losing streak, against Winnipeg, which had won four straight.

Petr Mrazek stopped 27 shots for the Flyers. Jakub Voracek earned his NHLhigh 58th assist.

Devils 3, Predators 2 — Brian Boyle scored in the fifth round of the shootout and visiting New Jersey stopped Nashville’s win streak at 10 games.

Sami Vatanen and Boyle had the goals in regulation for the Devils. Keith Kinkaid made 34 saves.

Golden Knights 2, Sabres 1 — Vegas set an NHL record for road victories by an expansion team with its 20th, a shootout win against Buffalo.

The Golden Knights’ Deryk Engelland scored late in regulation. Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves.

Blues 7, Kings 2 — Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko, Alex Pietrangel­o, Ivan Barbashev, Vladimir Tarasenko, Kyle Brodziak and Jaden Schwartz scored as St. Louis routed host Los Angeles.

Avalanche 5, Coyotes 2 — In Denver, Blake Comeau, Carl Soderberg, Tyson Barrie, Tyson Jost and Mikko Rantanen all scored as Colorado topped Arizona.
