Defend gun rights

Some are asking why we do not simply ban semi-automatic weapons (“Taking aim at gun control,” March 4). I would argue that the Second Amendment is not up for debate. Starting a campaign to amend the Constituti­on would at least be a necessary and honest step in the direction of such a ban.

I’d note, as well, that the AR-15 and other assault-style rifles are highly popular. These semi-automatic weapons are regularly used as hunting rifles in a number of states.
