NBC’S ‘PARKS AND REC’ REUNION
Burlington’s Poehler reteams with Offerman for ‘Making It’
You’re going to want to drop your decoupage and carving tools to read this: A crafting competition is coming to NBC, and Burlington’s Amy Poehler is going to be a part of it.
The network just released its first preview for “Making It,” featuring Poehler and her former “Parks and Recreation” costar Nick Offerman as its hosts. The competition will attract contestants who are competent throughout different craft disciplines — from painting and crocheting, to woodworking and welding — as they try to prove they are the craftiest of them all.
Within each episode of “Making it,” which will premiere on July 31, contenders will complete two projects — one that’s timed and another that follows a certain theme. Poehler and Offerman will be devising the creative challenges that’ll put the competitors to the test, while hopefully showing off their own craft: providing ample comedic relief. Dayna Isom Johnson, an Etsy trend expert, and Simon Doonan, Creative ambassador for Barneys, will serve as judges and will help select the show’s winning Master Maker.
“At the very most, you will fall in love with our makers, get introduced to a world you may not know anything about, and even get inspired to make something at home!” Poehler told Entertainment Weekly. “At the very least, you will learn what vellum is.”
“As a woodworker myself, I’m awfully proud to showcase all these talented Makers and be reunited with my charismatic pal Amy to boot,” Offerman added. “The question is: Is America thready for this? Strap in, our show will be punheavy.”
