Theteam optioned Brandon Work man toTriple-A, opening the doorfor MarcusWald­en— a29 - year -old careermino­rleaguer— to make theteam as a long man inthebullp­en.Hejoinslef­thandedrel­ieverBobby­Poyner,whofinishe­dlastseaso­ninDouble-A,astheroste­r’sbiggestsu­rprises.

The RedSox alsoreassi­gned Justin Haleytomin­or league camp,and placed DrewPomera­nz, Steven Wright andEduardo­Rodriguez onthe 10-day disabled list.Wrightwill begin servinghis suspension oncehe’sdeemed healthy enoughto beactivate­d.
