Penilla, Revs dust Dynamo

-

The Revolution didn’t win a game on the road last season until the last day of the regular season, but this year’s squad under new coach Brad Friedel has seemingly changed its tune.

Teal Bunbury scored his first goal of the season to cap a blazing counterattack and new winger Cristian Penilla scored his first MLS goal to propel the Revs to a 2-0 victory over the 10men Dynamo last night in Houston.

Matt Turner was credited with six saves to earn the shutout, as the Revs moved to 2-1-1 on the season.

Midfielder Luis Caicedo began the 15th minute break that gave the Revs the lead — leading a 4-on-2 break and then feeding Penilla on the right flank, who crossed for Bunbury to tap home.

Penilla’s speed led to a game-changing red card in the 35th minute. Sent clear behind the Dynamo defense, veteran U.S. international

DaMarcus Beasley bundled Penilla over from behind to get sent off.

Penilla did it all on his goal in the 71st minute, juking on the left side deep in the penalty area before cutting to his right and blasting a rising shot over Houston keeper
