ARABIAN SIGHTS IN TOM’S FUTURE
Tom Brady is embarking on an Arabian adventure that will have him touching down in Qatar as part of his Best Buddies duties.
Qatar Airways tipped folks off about the quarterback’s Middle Eastern moves, tweeting, “This week we have a special guest! Excited to welcome the @NFL superstar #TomBrady onboard as he joins @BestBuddiesQTR in #Doha for a special event. #BradyInQatar.”
Brady, who’s been a Best Buddies Global Ambassador since 2003, is headed to Qatar’s capital of Doha for a momentous occasion Sunday. The peninsular country’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Qatar Museums, Best Buddies participants and Brady are all gathering to kick off a commitment to include people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The affair is being held at the Khalifa International Stadium, where guests both with and without disabilities will enjoy a day of fun while hanging out with our GOAT. And although the QB’s presence alone might put guests in good spirits, the real reason for celebration will be the new initiative that will have 20 individuals with disabilities working alongside the nation as they organize and host the worldwide soccer tournament in four years.
Aside from the Best Buddies extravaganza, Brady has quite the itinerary during his trip to Qatar.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is slated to host the fivetime Super Bowl champ, showing him some of the country’s historic landmarks and modern gems. Stops will include the Museum of Islamic Art and Al Shaqab, a super swanky equestrian facility. His plans will also reportedly feature an excursion along the nation’s Sealine Desert, which is both real and an oxymoron, and he’s expected to end his journey with the opening ceremony of Qatar National Library.
