Kyle Busch rules Texas Speedway

Kyle Busch finished ahead of Kevin Harvick and the rest of the field this time, winning at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, yesterday to give Joe Gibbs Racing its first victory of the season.

Busch stayed in front of Harvick the last 24 laps after the final restart. It was Busch’s third win at Texas, and the 44th of his career. He led 116 of the 334 laps at the 1.5-mile track.

Jamie McMurray finished third, ahead of Erik Jones. Ryan Blaney finished fifth a day after he won the Xfinity Series race there. Kurt Busch, the pole sitter, finished seventh . . . .

Sebastian Vettel just held on to win a dramatic Bahrain Grand Prix in Sakhir from pole position, while Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen accidental­ly broke a team mechanic’s leg during a botched tire change and that cost him a podium spot.

Lewis Hamilton profited from Ferrari’s mishap to finish third behind Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who almost overtook Vettel on the last lap but the former four-time world champion held on despite fading tires to win by 0.6 seconds and earn his 49th career win in his 200th race start.

Football: Titans sign veteran DL Logan

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with veteran defensive lineman Bennie Logan.

The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Logan has started 63 of his 74 games in the NFL with Philadelph­ia and Kansas City, with 218 tackles and seven sacksin his career . ...

Authoritie­s say former Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is back in a San Fransisco jail after violating a condition of his bail.

Online records show the 28-year-old is being held on $500,000 bond. Last month Smith pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and other charges. The Raiders released Smith after his initial arrest.

Tennis: Bertens steers to Volvo title

Kiki Bertens of the Netherland­s overpowere­d Germany’s Julia Goerges to cap a long day at the Volvo Car Open in Charleston, S.C., with a 6-2, 6-1 victory for her fourth career WTA title and third of the past 11 months.

No.12 seed Bertens and fifth-seeded Goerges each had a pair of matches to play yesterday with rain washing out Saturday’s semifinals. Bertens had a grueling, three-setter to oust American Madison Keys, while Goerges completed her match with Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova — the two got to 4-all in the opening set before the rains came — in about 25 minutes.

Misc.: Lloyd hits century mark for U.S.

Carli Lloyd became the sixth American to score 100 internatio­nal goals, as the United States rallied for a 6-2 win over Mexico in an exhibition in Houston.

Alex Morgan scored twice for the second straight game and Megan Rapinoe chipped into an empty net from 35 yards and had four assists . . . .
