CUP RUNNETH OVER WITH PARTIES

Events aplenty around Boston for marathon

-

Marathon Monday is almost upon us, and you know what that means: Streets overcrowded with some of the world’s craziest competitors — and plenty of parties for less fit folks who are more than happy to watch the race from the sidelines.

We’ve combed through the innumerable festivities that’ll bring you close to the finish line — or simply in front of a massive screen and a pitcher of beer — and now give you a selection of can’t-miss events celebrating this year’s Boston Marathon.

Former Red Sox player Pedro Martinez is inviting all of Boston to meet and mingle with his firstever charity marathon team. The pitcher and his wife, Carolina, are throwing a bash, dubbed Rally with 45, at Hurricane’s at the Garden on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests can expect to down some serious ballpark-themed food and drinks, bumpin’ beats and special gifts throughout the evening. Tickets are still up for grabs, and all proceeds go to the Pedro Martinez Foundation and its work in supporting underserved children and families throughout Latin America and the U.S.

The Greg Hill Foundation and The Capital Grille are teaming up for a midday shindig on Monday. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., WAAF host and founder of the foundation, Greg Hill, will be welcoming nonrunners at the Boylston Street spot, where they can sit back, relax and drink in the view of the marathon’s final stretch — and maybe a cocktail or two from the private bar that will be serving ticket-holders.

Equinox is opening its Avery Street doors to both gym members and general public as it hosts a couple of upcoming events. It’s bringing in Boston Marathon legend Kathrine Switzer for a chat with Sheila Monaghan, editorin-chief of Furthermore from Equinox, and David Siik, creator of Precision Running, on Saturday at 4 p.m. And to cap off this year’s race day, the fitness facility is also holding its post-race celebration at 5 p.m. on Monday, when people can pat themselves on the backs, toast to a race well done and pack away pasta at Blu Restaurant & Bar. Reservations are a must and they can be made at equinox boston marathon. splashthat.com.

If you’re brave enough to keep up that runner’s high after a day of race shenanigans, The Grand has lined up a performance from Alan Walker. The Norwegian DJ, who’s probably best known for his platinum-certified single “Faded,” is slated to hit the stage at the Seaport club as part of its “I Love Mondays” series. Doors open at 10 p.m., so we recommend you properly pace your partying to finish strong.

For all of you art aficionados out there, New Balance is putting together a pop-up exhibition that’ll be open from Friday through Sunday. The show, which will be held within the Boston Architectural College’s McCormick Gallery, will spotlight portraits of runners and include an interactive photo op.

Whether you’re preparing for 26.2 or intending to sit this one out, everyone deserves a good ol’ fashioned carbo-load. Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca is kicking off the weekend with a pre-marathon pasta party on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The food-filled evening promises to be a marathon in and of itself, featuring a noodle-heavy, four-course seated dinner with wine pairings. Willing participants must reserve their spots, going for $60 each, in advance.
