WEEKEND BAA-SH: The Boston Arts Academy is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and it’s commemorating the occasion with a fittingly fancy fete. To mark this major milestone, the organization has planned a star-studded weekend dubbed the BAA Honors. The marathon of partying will feature a kickoff reception May 18, a red carpet-clad, black-tie dinner on May 19 and a jazz-accented Sunday brunch on May 20. Malik Yoba, who’s been in hit shows “Designated Survivor” and “Empire,” as well as the new TBS comedy “The Last O.G.” and the upcoming series “Baselines” — is slated to serve as host at the star-studded affair, which will be co-chaired by Gov. Charlie Baker and his wife, Lauren. Other prominent guests who boast Boston roots and are promised to be in attendance: Golden Globe-winner Maura Tierney, “Orange Is the New Black” star Diane Guerrero, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Belen Pereyra-Alem and Boston Fashion Week founder Jay Calderin. Boston-born Michael Bivins, whom you may know from the 1980s boy band New Edition and current group Bell Biv Devoe, will be there to receive the Vocal Music Award, while Mayor Marty Walsh will accept the BAA’s Civic Responsibility Award.

THE INSIDE STORY: Collect the kiddos, because Ben and Tonya Mezrich are preparing for a read-aloud. The husband-wife team of authors are taking to Boston Children’s Museum on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., when they’ll be entertaining guests with excerpts from their book, “Charlie Numbers and the Man in the Moon.” The story centers on a boy, Charlie, who’s asked to use his mad math skills to figure out what happened to a box of stolen moon rocks. And to keep the STEM amusement going, folks can stick around and participate in an educational activity based on the book.
