BUSY DAY, CHILL NIGHT
Enjoy art, beer, chicks before hitting the couch
From art to alpacas to “Augh! The robots are taking over!” we've found some great things for you to do, taste and watch this weekend for a great day out/great night in.
East Boston Open Studios: The East Boston Artists Group welcomes the public to see, and purchase, its artwork in various media today and tomorrow at its 80 Border St. location. Check out eastbostonartists.org for a peek at some of the artists and pieces represented — from photography to abstract and realist painting. The coolness goes down from noon to 6 p.m. each day. Dorchester Brewing Co. Spring Fling: Heads up! The Dorchester Brewing Co. is toasting the start of good weather, those trusting souls, and opening its outdoor patio. This calls for a celebration, and it goes down today from 11:30 a.m to 11 p.m. There will be food from Meadowlark Butcher & Grocer and Union Square Donuts, live music from the Fancy Bassetts, Golden Lola and the company's very own head brewer, Todd Charbonneau and The Winter Project. Also on tap (see what we did there), cornhole games and giant jenga setup, Dorchester Brewing Co., 1250 Mass. Ave.; dorchesterbrewing.com.
Agricultural Festival: It is Earth Day, after all, and the Boston Public Market is going all out tomorrow with this free Market-wide fest. On the cuteness front: “Meet & Greets” with baby chicks from Chestnut Farms CSA and alpacas from Plain View Farm. On the way cool front: Beekeeping 101 with Boston Honey Co., DIY flower crowns with Field & Vase by Stow Greenhouses, container garden planting with Stillman's Farm and many more workshops. Pop-up vendors include Kitchen Garden Farm, Dr. Bessette Naturals and Kalanso. There will be live music, face painting, a cash bar and lots more. And did we mention, free? Boston Public Market, 100 Hanover St.; bostonpublicmarket.org.
The bots are back and there’s gonna be trouble, hey la-di-la, the bots are back.
When “Westworld” returns (tomorrow at 9 p.m. on HBO), note the shift in power: The robots (Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton among them) have attained selfawareness and they're not going to stand for being treated like oversized toys anymore. But what are they going to do now? And what of the Man in Black and his mysterious mission? The cogs start turning on the new season.
