GLAM MOM KATE SETS BAD EXAMPLE

-

The world is making such a big deal about the fact Prince William and Princess Kate named their baby boy. Who cares about his name when the conversation we really should be having is about the unrealistic and unhealthy standard this famous mom is setting for women globally.

Giving birth, having your glam squad come in and beautify you, and then leaving the hospital just seven hours after giving birth is a move that set women back decades.

It is hard enough for most new moms to deal with the unattainable goals of losing the baby weight as quickly as Hollywood starlets. Now Princess Kate has added an extra layer of pressure for women by waltzing out of the hospital and not realizing the impact she has on mothers and pregnant women.

Of course, most moms can’t relate to her lifestyle, but she should be more sensitive to all the women around the world who are mesmerized by her — present company excluded.

This move does not show strength but insecurity at the highest level.

Giving birth is not glamorous; it is however, one of the most sacred things a woman can do. By showing the world you can get dolled up hours after a major medical procedure and act like you just left the hospital after having a flu shot is disturbing.

What’s the rush? No one likes to be in the hospital and would prefer the comfort of their own home — especially if it’s within Kensington Palace. The problem is Princess Kate cared more about image and less about her responsibility as a role model by leaving the hospital when she did. Monarchies are dying off, and her move this week should be another reason of how they are operating in the dark ages.

Average people, or commoners as royalty may call them, take to social media to post images of themselves and their bundles of joy. In the world of Instagram, moms are often now trying to look their best for that first family moment and share it with all their followers and friends.

It always amazes me how good some of these mothers look, and that can be celebrated. On the one hand, moms can be incredibly supportive of each other, but there is also a competitive, cutthroat side that is similar to high-school days. Sadly, moms compete about how many kids they have, how long they breastfeed, how quickly they drop the baby weight, the homemade baby food they prepare and how easy motherhood is for them.

Let’s not forget the impact this will also have on a husband and dad’s expectation of his wife after delivery. Why should his spouse be stuck using ice packs for days and waddling around for a week?

Let’s just hope her soon to be sister-in-law Meghan Markle, an American actress, will be more sensitive to the actions that she takes and how people perceive them.

We should stop celebrating this couple the same way we do with our own fake royal family the Kardashians. There are many more influential people on this planet that deserve our time and energy.
