Dot man stops on Pike, hops on hood of school bus
A visibly irate driver stopped his car in the middle of the Mass Pike and climbed on the hood of a school bus in a bizarre case of apparent road rage that was caught on video Tuesday.
The shocking images — captured by the bus’ camera — were posted on YouTube by Jim Rizoli, 65, of Framingham, whose twin brother, Joe, was driving the empty bus for the Weston School District Tuesday when the erratically driven 1999 Toyota Corolla weaved in front of him, forcing him to come to a halt on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Newton.
“He was afraid. He thought someone was going to hurt him. He didn’t know what this guy was doing,” Jim Rizoli said of his brother, who was back out driving and could not be reached for comment yesterday.
The driver, a 42-yearold Dorchester man whose name was not immediately released, was picked up last night in Boston, state police confirmed.
The video shows the Corolla pulling in front of the bus from the right lane and swerving in the center lane in front of the bus. The Toyota driver then is seen waving his arm out his window. The man stopped the Corolla, forcing the bus to stop, while traffic keeps whizzing by on both sides.
“The man then exited his vehicle and attempted to gain access to the bus by the side entry door, but was denied access by the bus operator,” police said.
The video showed the man approaching the bus, holding up his right index finger and walking to the left of the bus. He then briefly jumped on the hood, but quickly slid off. The man then mouthed something to the bus driver before walking off screen to the right off the bus near the driver’s side.
The bus then drove away from the man.
Rizoli said he doesn’t want the man to be charged with a crime.
“I just want to know, what this guy was thinking? Why did he do what he did? He could have gotten killed,” he said.
