No-shows at polls seeking your vote

-

Several Massachusetts Democratic congressional candidates — who've been begging voters to cast ballots in the crowded primary scheduled the day after Labor Day — skipped the polls themselves in several important national and statewide votes over the years, including in many cases failing to vote for the congressional seat they are now seeking. Here are some of the major votes they missed:

DAN KOH, 33, of Andover, eligible to vote since 2004:

Missed the 2010 special election to replace the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, for whom he had interned.

JUANA MATIAS, 31, of Lawrence, eligible to vote since 2005:

Missed the 2007 special election to replace U.S. Rep. Martin T. Meehan in the seat she is now seeking.

Missed the 2013 special election to replace departing U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry.

RUFUS GIFFORD,

43, of Concord, eligible to vote since 1992:

Voted in California from 1996 through 2016. Skipped the 2004 and 2016 presidential primaries. Voted in a Concord town election in

2017.

PATRICK LITTLEFIELD, 63, of Boxboro, eligible to vote since 1973:

Voted in the 2007 primary special election to replace Meehan, but skipped the general election.

Missed the 2013 special election to replace Kerry. Missed the 2010 and 2014 gubernatorial elections.
