Ben & Jen are keeping it classy as exes
From all appearances, Jennifer Garner and her ex, Ben Affleck, know how to handle divorce with class. In honor of Father’s Day, the actress took to social media to commend her former husband for a job well done in the daddy department — and he responded with an equally heartwarming post.
“Our kids are lucky to have a dad who looks at them the way you look at them and loves them the way you love them,” Garner wrote to Affleck underneath an artsy, blackand-white photo of the Cambridge native.
Affleck — father to their three children, Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6 — later shared a photo of a card that read, “Love you, dad! You are my superhero,” not only celebrating all of the dads out there, but also making a point to honor the ladies who support them.
“I can think of three incredible reasons why today is special,” he wrote. “Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there, and to the women that empower them to be the best they can be. We are all so fortunate beyond measure.”
The feels-inducing messages are a far cry from how other celebrity couples have coped with co-parenting post-marriage-dissolution, with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s ongoing custody battle being the latest example of stars fighting over their children. And yet, their well-wishes — despite having officially filed for divorce in April 2017 after two years of separation — seem to fall in line with how these exes behave.
Even as of last week, Ben and Jen have been seen showing off their co-parenting prowess: Garner, who’s been filming the TV series “Camping,” was spotted running errands and dropping by Affleck’s office in Santa Monica, Calif.; the amiable exes were noticed cheering together at their son Samuel’s Little League baseball game; and the pair were both present during their daughter Violet’s elementary school graduation.
