Cops: Boy, 15, crashes after chase

- By JORDAN FRIAS

A 15-year-old boy from Stoughton is facing criminal charges after nearly hitting a state police cruiser at the scene of a crash in Raynham yesterday, before crashing into a telephone pole after a high-speed chase.

State police spokesman David Procopio said the suspect was first seen traveling at speeds higher than 100 miles per hour while on Route 495 northbound in Raynham.

At the time a state police trooper was responding to a motor vehicle crash in the area when the suspect nearly struck the police cruiser at the scene, Procopio said.

Police followed the suspect as he exited Route 495 onto Route 140 in Mansfield, Procopio said. The pursuit ended when the suspect turned into an industrial park after Chauncey Street and headed for Green Street in the Mansfield area.

Foxboro police and troopers from the Foxboro barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on Cedar Street several minutes later, Procopio said, where a 2007 Honda Accord had crashed into a telephone pole.

Procopio said the same Honda Accord had been the subject of the pursuit earlier, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The driver was taken to Boston Medical Center with non-lifethreatening injuries, Procopio said. The driver is expected to face criminal charges in relation to the pursuit.
