Kiermaier’s first home run of the season came during a six-run second inning against starter Gio Gonzalez (6-5).

Snell, 6-1 in his last eight starts, struck out 10 while walking four. He left after the seventh inning and 103 pitches.

Yankees 4, Phillies 2 — Jonathan Loaisiga took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Aaron Judge ripped his 20th homer and New York snapped a three-game losing streak by beating host Philadelphia.

Loaisiga (2-0) didn’t allow a hit until Jorge Alfaro lined a single to right leading off the sixth. He struck out eight in 51⁄3 innings in his third start after jumping from Double-A to the majors.

Also, the Yankees placed All-Star catcher Gary Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right groin. Sanchez is expected to miss up to four weeks.

Rangers 7, Padres 4 — Shin-Soo Choo extended his career-best on-base streak to 38 games with three hits, including the tiebreaking RBI single in a strange fiverun outburst, and Texas beat San Diego in Arlington, Texas.

American League

Mariners 5, Orioles 3 — Dee Gordon’s slick seventh-inning bunt was the lone hit in a two-run rally that put Seattle ahead for good in a victory over host Baltimore.

Denard Span homered for the Mariners, who benefited from 10 walks to get back on track after losing successive series at Yankee Stadium and in Boston.

Felix Hernandez (7-6) allowed three runs on four hits over six innings, and Edwin Diaz worked the ninth for his major league-leading 28th save.

Athletics 5, Tigers 4 — Jed Lowrie hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift Oakland over host Detroit on a historic day for A’s starter Edwin Jackson.

Also, the Tigers signed pitcher Casey Mize, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft out of Auburn. In 17 starts this year, Mize went 10-6 with a 3.30 ERA. The Tigers also signed Texas second baseman and third-round pick Kody Clemens, the youngest son of seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens.

National League

Marlins 9, Diamondbacks 5 — Brian Anderson and Cameron Maybin each drove in two runs to help spoil Shelby Miller’s return to the mound after missing over a year for Tommy John surgery as host Miami beat Arizona.
