DUO MAKING THEIR WEDDING A REALITY

‘Bachelor’ stars open to TV nuptials

-

We can already hear “The Bachelor” wedding bells faintly ringing in the distance, as Ashley Iaconetti starts planning her nuptials to fellow franchise alum, Rhode Island’s own Jared Haibon. And as anyone could have called it, the reality star duo is considering having their walk down the aisle televised.

“I think we’re both down, but our caveat is that we want as many guests as we want and we don’t want to be limited to that,” Iaconetti dished during the most recent episode of “The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast.”

“So I think if we couldn’t have it the way we imagined is the only reason we wouldn’t do it,” she added. “We want it!”

We at least know that fans will be seeing Haibon pop the question on a beach in Mexico during the upcoming season of “The Bachelor in Paradise,” which will premiere on Aug. 7. And we’ll get to watch a somewhat surprised Ashley as he presents her with a Neil Lane ring that he picked out, with a little help from Ashley’s sister.

“I had an inkling — I was like, 50/50,” Iaconetti said of the engagement. “I thought it was going to happen for a couple of weeks leading up to it, and then the week of everyone was throwing me off.

“I knew that Jared would ask my dad (for my hand). He always said he would ask my dad,” she said. “But I talked to my parents and they were like, ‘Ashley, he did not call.’ Total straight faces. He did call. My parents are apparently really good actors. So is my sister.”

The far-from-camera-shy couple have only been officially dating for a short time, and as Ashley I has put it, they’ve been firmly planted in the honeymoon phase since fleeing the friend zone.

“Since we’ve been dating in March, we haven’t had any sort of fight. I feel like Jared and I kind of did it in reverse,” Iaconetti said.

“We had all our challenges — as not a couple — in the beginning,” she continued. “And now we’ve entered this honeymoon phase which is so weird, because normally the honeymoon phase happens for ‘Bachelor’ couples on the show, which it was definitely not for us.”

To be fair, they’ve yet to be thrown into the trenches of wedding planning warfare. So it’s only a matter of time until the happy couple endures a stress-fueled tiff or two.
