Two critical after Dot shooting
A burst of gunfire last night at the corner of Draper Street and Homes Avenue left two men with critical injuries and another hospitalized, police said.
Boston Police Superintendent Kevin Buckley said police believe the shooting targeted a group on the steps of a triple decker.
Police spokesman David Estrada said a call came in for a person shot at about 6:53 p.m. Around the same time, there was a report that three people arrived at Boston Medical Center with gunshot wounds. Buckley said there was talk of a truck leaving the area just after the shooting.
Neighbors in the area say the shots sounded like fireworks. Ellen Dickerson, 34, who just moved to the neighborhood from Somerville this past winter, said she was at Ronan Park up the street when she heard about five to seven shots.
A 34-year-old mother of two, who asked that her name be withheld, said there were a lot of kids in the area at the time of the shooting.
“It sounded like fireworks. It was a lot of shots ... a lot of commotion,” she said. “Last year bullets went into our house. It’s that bad.”
Buckley said police urge anyone with information about last night’s shooting to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at 617-3434470. People who wish to help anonymously can call 800-494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463).
