DRUG BUST NETS $48K, HEROIN, 11 SUSPECTS
Eleven suspected drug dealers, three firearms, more than 6,700 bags of heroin and $48,000 in cash were rounded up in a sweeping multiagency trafficking bust in Springfield.
“I would like to thank the dedicated and professional members of law enforcement who participated in this investigation,” said Hampden County District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. “Continuing to hold accountable those who wish to profit from addiction remains the number one priority of my administration.”
The 11 suspects, all residents of the city, were arraigned Tuesday night by a Springfield District Court clerk.
Kenen Monsanto-Maldonado, 18, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws and trafficking in heroin.
Edfrain Rosario, 22, and Jean Rosario, 20, who also share an address, were charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, trafficking in cocaine and possession of a loaded firearm.
Derek Lopez, 30, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Jose Fabian Haddock-Ortiz, 28, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, trafficking in heroin and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Milagros Ortiz, 48, is charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws and trafficking in heroin.
Kevin Rivera-Ortiz, 20, of the same address as Ortiz, was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws, trafficking in heroin and a gun charge.
Matthew Carasquillo, 21, was arrested on charges of conspiracy to violate drug laws and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
Cassandra Cardona, 21, was charged with conspiracy to violate drugs laws, trafficking in heroin and possession with intent to distribute.
Also arrested for conspiracy to violate drug laws was Joshua Rosado, 20, and Devin Lopez, 26.
Police also rounded up a Jeep and a BMW during the execution of a dozen search warrants at the suspects’ homes and a U-Name-It Self-Storage unit in West Springfield.
