The Buffalo Sabres acquired forward Conor Sheary and defenseman Matt Hunwick in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins, giving up a 2019 conditional fourth-round draft pick.

Serena Williams was seeded No. 25 for her return to Wimbledon after having a baby, a decision by the All England Club that prompted complaints and elevates the tournament’s seven-time champion above her ranking of 183rd. The 36-year-old Williams was off the tour for more than a year.

By moving Williams into the top 32, she will not face a seeded player in the first two rounds. Williams missed Wimbledon in 2017, but won the title in 2015 and 2016. Aside from Williams, the seedings aligned with the rankings: Simona Halep is No. 1, Caroline Wozniacki is No. 2, reigning champion Garbine Muguruza is No. 3 and Sloane Stephens is No. 4 . . . .
