SOMETHING BREWING FOR BANKS IN BOSTON
Thesp’s ‘#secretproject’ looks to be on Sam Adams beer boss
There’s more to Elizabeth Banks’ recent return to Boston than first meets the eye.
The Pittsfield-raised star has actually been working on a “secret project,” which the Track has learned will highlight one of the Hub’s head honchos of brewing, Jim Koch.
“Me and my huge head trying to act casual. #bts #boston #secretprojects,” the Pittsfield native wrote under a photo of herself standing in front of a door advertising Samuel Adams brewery tours yesterday.
While the actress/director/ producer initially told fans she was galavanting around New England to visit family, we’ve heard she’s working on a documentary, funded by State Street Global Advisors and produced by Chelsea Pictures Inc. And it will include coverage on Koch, cofounder and chairman of Boston Beer Company, which produces our beloved Samuel Adams brews.
So far, we’ve only heard of a few other people involved in the project. We’re told that Banks has interviewed at least one local legend, Joe Milano, whose historic restaurant, the Union Oyster House, was the first restaurant to carry Sam Adams beer starting in 1985. Other big names who seem to be involved in the hush-hush production: celebrated hair stylist Mark Townsend and makeup artist Gita Bass, both of whom posted photos of Banks in full glam and accompanied the pics with “#secretproject.” Townsend also shared an Instagram story from Roslindale and has documented his borderline pro bartending skills as he’s poured Sam Adams Boston Lager from tap to glass.
This doc discovery now makes sense of Banks’ behavior as of late. As the Track previously reported, the unmistakable platinum blonde celeb was spotted earlier this week outside the JPNDC Brewery Complex, where Samuel Adams is located. She was seen taking a call outside Bella Luna Restaurant and Milky Way Lounge with iced tea in hand, before heading into the Jamaica Plain building with a full team and sipped on some local suds at lunch on Tuesday.
