C.J. Cron hit a two-run homer and Jesus Sucre, who entered in the sixth for injured catcher Wilson Ramos, drove in two runs for Tampa Bay. Ramos injured his hamstring running to first base and will miss Tuesday’s All-Star Game, saying he’s “probably” going to face a stint on the disabled list.

Jamie Schultz walked three batters in 22⁄3 hitless innings to earn the win as Tampa overcame a short start by Chris Archer.

Eddie Rosario had three hits and two RBI, but the Twins fell for the second time in nine games on their current homestand.

Yankees 5, Indians 4 — Austin Romine came all the way around to score when Cleveland committed two errors on his routine double in the seventh inning, and visiting New York slipped away with a win.

Didi Gregorius hit a three-run homer and Greg Bird added a solo shot for the Yankees, who moved 30 games over .500 and kept pace with the AL East-leading Red Sox.

Indians All-Star Jose Ramirez belted his 29th homer, giving the third baseman as many homers as he had all last season — and tying Mickey Mantle’s record for the most by a switch-hitter before the break.

Astros 9, Tigers 1 — Gerrit Cole struck out eight in 52⁄3 strong innings of one-run ball, and host Houston hit three home runs in a rout of Detroit.

Josh Reddick and Evan Gattis hit back-toback solo shots in the fifth. Tyler White had a two-run blast in the seventh for the Astros

James McCann had an RBI double in the sixth to snap a 19-inning scoreless streak for the Tigers, who have lost six straight.

Royals 5, White Sox 0 — Jorge Bonifacio homered for the first time since he was suspended for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, and Danny Duffy tossed seven innings of four-hit ball as Kansas City beat host Chicago for just its second win in July.

Pirates sweep Brewers — Starling Marte and Gregory Polanco hit back-to-back homers in both ends of a doubleheader, powering host Pittsburgh to a pair of wins over Milwaukee, 2-1 and 6-2.

In the first game, Marte and Polanco did the deed in the first inning, and Pirates hurlers made that stand up. Richard Rodriguez got the win, retiring all four batters he faced in relief of starter Ivan Nova.

In the second game, Marte hit his 13th homer before Polanco hit his 16th to make it 5-0 in the eighth. Marte extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a ground-rule double in the sixth.

In his second major league start, Clay Holmes allowed no runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks for his first win, as the Pirates have won seven of their past eight. Felipe Vazquez earned the save in both games, giving him a career-best 23 in 27 opportunities.

Diamondbacks 3, Braves 0 — Zack Greinke added another road win to his strong first half by allowing only four hits in 72⁄3 innings as Arizona shut out host Atlanta.

Ketel Marte hit a sixth-inning homer for Arizona, who has matched its 2017 team record of 53 wins before the All-Star break.

Brockton native Sean Newcomb allowed three runs on four hits and three walks in 52⁄3 innings for the Braves.

Marlins 2, Phillies 0 — All-Star Aaron Nola gave up two runs in the first inning and punchless Philadelphia never recovered, losing in Miami.

Reds 8, Cardinals 2 — Jose Peraza had a career-best five hits, Scooter Gennett drove in two runs and visiting Cincinnati waited out a pair of rain delays before beating St. Louis.

Following the two delays that totaled 2 hours, 43 minutes, Cincinnati trailed 2-0 after five innings before rallying for eight runs in its final four at-bats.

Mets 7, Nationals 4 — Zack Wheeler won for the first time since April 29 thanks to seven strong innings, Michael Conforto homered and host New York defeated Washington.
