Suspect in Curry College camp rape case facing deportation to Cuba
A Florida man accused of raping a co-worker at a Curry College sports camp could now face deportation back to Cuba, authorities say.
Mario Larrondo, 50, is charged with aggravated rape and was ordered held on $50,000 bail after his arraignment in Quincy District Court on Thursday.
Two representatives from ICE were present and presented the court with an immigration detainer, according to the Norfolk DA’s office. Officials also had a warrant for deportation removal, according to the clerk’s office.
Curry College “took immediate actions” once their Department of Public Safety received the report of a sexual assault Thursday, according to a statement. The Milton Police Department was notified and later arrested Larrondo, who was working as a night patroller at MB Sports Camp.
The alleged incident occurred “after hours,” during the six-week youth camp, according to a statement from MBSC Management.
The victim, who has not been identified, is an adult camp counselor and was familiar with the suspect, MBSC Management said.
Court documents reveal that Larrondo and the alleged victim were doing their nightly rounds Wednesday when they stopped for a quick workout, according to reports.
Reports say the counselor stated that the suspect began stretching and massaging her hips despite her pleas for him to stop. He then assaulted her, according to reports.
MBSC Management said they are “cooperating 100 percent,” as the Norfolk County DA investigates.
“We would like to express our sympathy to those that are involved in the situation and we hope that it is resolved in an expedient manner,” MBSC Management said.
Extra security is patrolling the camp, according to reports.
A probable cause hearing will be held Aug. 22.
