Veteran safety happy to see Patriots from inside

Pleasant said. “A lot of the coaches came from here that I played with in Houston. I’ve heard a lot of great things, and I’m having a great time so far.”

Asked about his first impression­s after the third day of training camp yesterday, Pleasant had a response typical of Patriots newcomers.

“It’s still early, but they demand a lot. You can see why they win here,” he said.

Pleasant’s crash course in Pats life has been aided by old friend and fellow secondary member Patrick Chung, with the pair reuniting after playing together for two years at Oregon.

“(Chung) was the one that hosted me when I was on my recruiting trip from high school,” Pleasant reminisced.

The two were Ducks together during Pleasant’s redshirt and freshman years, 2007 and 2008. Chung already was a star player for Oregon’s defense and was a first-team all-conference player in both seasons, while Pleasant would follow in his footsteps and earn All-Pac-12 honors in 2011 when he helped lead the Ducks to a Rose Bowl victory.

“You’re making me feel old,” Chung said after he was asked about their days at Oregon. “We hung out all the time. We were friends. We hung out after football, during football. That’s my boy. I’m glad he’s here. I’ve stayed in contact with him, but he’s here to work now. We’re going to make sure he’s working with the
