Late goal for Orlando leaves Revs with tie

Scott Sutter finished Yoshimar Yotun’s free kick in the 93rd minute in give Orlando City a 3-3 tie with the New England Revolution last night in Orlando, Fla. The tie allows each team to snap a three-game losing streak.

Yotun also had a free kick in the 71st minute that Amro Tarek headed home to make it 2-2 for

Orlando (7-14-2). Yotun was sent off violent conduct in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Teal Bunbury gave the Revs (7-7-8) a 3-2 lead in the 76th minute after entering as a substitute in the 74th.

Juan Agudelo opened the scoring for the Revs in the seventh minute with a header flick to finish Brandon Bye’s throw-in from a narrow angle. Cristian Penilla drilled home a right-footed shot in the 18th minute after Luis Caicedo forced a defensive miscue in the Orlando City backfield.

Dom Dwyer pulled Orlando City to within 2-1 in the 45th minute.

NHL: Ducks extend Gibson for $51.2M

John Gibson agreed to an eight-year, $51.2 million extension with the Anaheim Ducks, keeping the goalie with the club through the 2026-27 season. Gibson debuted with Anaheim as a 20-year-old in 2014, and he survived a few bumpy stretches to become a standout starter for a perennial playoff team. The former second-round draft pick set career highs last season with 31 victories and a .926 save percentage in 60 games . . . .

The Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward William Karlsson to a $5.25 million, one-year contract. General manager George McPhee announced the deal as the two sides avoided arbitratio­n. Karlsson gets a significan­t raise from his previous $1 million salary.

Misc.: Storm lose to Philly in UWLX final

Michelle Tumolo had three goals and was named the game MVP as the Philadelph­ia Force rallied in the second half to upend the Boston Storm, 13-7, in the championsh­ip game of the United Women’s Lacrosse League at Harvard Stadium. Kayla Treanor scored twice to lead the Storm, who were ahead 4-3 early in the game . . . .

Urban Meyer is insisting that he properly handled 2015 allegation­s of domestic violence against one of his assistant coaches at the time, though he acknowledg­ed he was not forthright with reporters when questioned last week about the claims.

The assistant Meyer fired, Zach Smith, also spoke up, denying he abused his ex-wife, backing his former boss and placing Ohio State’s athletic director into the middle of the picture.
