BEN, JEN COURTING A DISMISSAL
Breaking up is hard to do, especially when the courts are involved. It’s been more than a year since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner officially filed for divorce, and the amicable exes’ case is now reportedly at risk of being dismissed.
Los Angeles County Superior Court has apparently notified them that it could put the kibosh on their divorce because they still haven’t filed and entered the final judgment, according to a document obtained by The Blast.
“If you fail to take the appropriate steps in your case, the court may dismiss your case for delay in prosecution,” the document reads.
The reason behind the wait is unknown. But if the Cambridge native and his erstwhile other half don’t hop to it and navigate the necessary red tape, it could cause them to remain legally married.
The pair were wedded for almost 10 years before they announced their separation in 2015. Last year, they finally made moves to end their marriage in the eyes of the law, with Affleck then moving out of the guest house, where he had been staying on the property that they shared, and going public with his relationship with “Saturday Night Live” producer Lindsay Shookus.
Despite pursuing the D-word, which might not even be their final destination at this rate, Garner and Affleck claim to keep their rapport on good terms as they coparent their three children, Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6.
