OVER THE EDGE!

INSIDE TRACK: TYLER DEMANDS TRUMP STOP USING HIS SONGS

-

Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler is back in the saddle, once again demanding that President Trump stop using the band’s music without its permission during his political events.

After “Livin’ on the Edge” played throughout West Virginia’s Charleston Civic Center during Trump’s rally on Tuesday, Tyler’s legal team sent POTUS a cease-and-desist letter, Variety reported.

“By using ‘Livin’ On The Edge’ without our client’s permission, Mr. Trump is falsely implying that our client, once again, endorses his campaign and/or his presidency, as evidenced by actual confusion seen from the reactions of our client’s fans all over social media,” the letter stated.

“This specifically violates Section 43 of the Lanham Act, as it ‘is likely to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive as to the affiliation, connection, or association of such person with another person,’ ” it continued.

This isn’t the first time the rocker, who wrote the 1993 hit alongside bandmates Joe Perry and Mark Hudson, has demanded Trump press pause on his use of Aerosmith’s songs. In 2015, Tyler sent him a different cease-and-desist letter because he was playing “Dream On” while campaigning for the Oval Office.

The most recent letter cites that previous note, calling out the president for having ignored the 2015 request, which was meant to apply to all of the group’s music, not just “Dream On.” It reads, “What makes this violation even more egregious is that Mr. Trump’s use of our client’s music was previously shut down, not once, but two times, during his campaign for presidency in 2015.”

To be clear, Tyler, not Aerosmith as a whole, is taking action against the president and his usage of their music. Other members of the band, including Perry and Joey Kramer, have previously made their support of the Republican Party known.
