Searching for fairness in Silicon Valley
Google, other tech giants lift lefty media, silence conservatives
Instead of the embarrassing special counsel investigation that after two years still hasn’t found any evidence of “collusion” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin during the 2016 election, why isn’t the U.S. Department of Justice — that would be you, Attorney General Jeff Ses- sions — looking into real election meddling taking place right under our nose in Silicon Valley?
It’s well known that Facebook and Twitter, run by Trump-hating partisans, are censoring conservatives on their platforms — and manipulating public opinion with consequences for U.S. elections by giving liberal voices greater access to voters than their conservative counterparts.
Now we learn that the foul play — and transparent election-meddling — doesn’t stop there.
Google — the default search engine of choice for most Americans — is also stifling conservative voices and content, according to a recent media study. Research conducted by PJ Media found that when one does a Google news search on President Trump, left-leaning media outlets dominate both the first 10 search results and top 100 with negative stories, while conservative outlets that publish more favorable coverage are missing from action.
“CNN has a disproportionate number of articles returned when searching for ‘Trump’ — nearly 29 percent of the total. In fact, leftleaning sites comprised 96 percent of the total results,” the study found.
You read that right — 96 percent. Talk about rigged.
It’s no wonder Trump slammed Google in a tweet yesterday:
“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake News Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal? 96% of results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”
Congress staging yet another hearing that results in nothing — other than political theater — won’t fix this serious problem. The Department of Justice, Federal Election Commission and Federal Communications Commission must investigate.
Who needs Russian collusion delusion when Silicon Valley is putting its own thumb on the scale with shadowy algorithms, opaque content “monitors” and other deceptive practices?
It’s high time Sessions addressed real threats to our democracy — not fabricated ones pushed by a left-leaning media with a political agenda.
