SIMPLY MARVEL-OUS!

While some folks might be lucky to get a courtesy head-nod from their co-workers, Sudbury’s

Chris Evans got a whole car. Apparently, his “Avengers” co-star Robert Downey Jr. gave him a custom 1967 Camaro, complete with Captain America flair, and the sleek vehicle will be profiled in tonight’s episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage.”

“They did the third ‘Avengers’ movie that came out,” Dave Salvaggio of SpeedKore Performance said of the acting duo during a preview of the episode. “Robert had it shipped to Atlanta, where they were filming, and gave it to Chris as a gift on set.”

“It’s funny because Chris wasn’t really a car guy, per se,” he continued. “He had been doing acting since 18, he had really been studying the craft. But, you know, like all boys, he enjoys cars. He loved it.”

It’s a good thing, too. Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man in the movies, and Evans have since completed shooting for the fourth flick in the Marvel franchise, which is rumored to be the last for both. To ensure the Camaro was a hit, RDJ put a lot of thought into the aesthetics of the vintage car, which features subtle nods to Evans’ onscreen character.

“Robert got really involved on the build,” Salvaggio said, adding that he “was really digging into it.”

Among the superhero touches added to the vehicle: A steering wheel adorned with the Captain America logo and a mineral blue hue on the exterior, which is supposedly one of Evans’ favorite aspects of his four-wheel present.

To see just how much Evans enjoys the ride, you can tune into the full episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage” at 10 p.m. on CNBC. The host, Andover’s own Jay Leno, teased that the show will have Evans learning how to stunt drive the car, bringing a bunch of his Massachusetts buds in tow.
