Wonderful works of art amid natural beauty of Vermont

- By HERALD STAFF

How about some art with your foliage? As if Vermont didn't have the visual feast bit down pat, it also hosts outdoor sculpture parks for those who want to take in some man-made art amid the wonders of nature. Here are a few we found:

Cold Hollow Sculpture Park (4280 Boston Post Road, near the village of Enosburg Falls), not far from Burlington, is a free, immersive art experience in a gorgeous setting. Visitors can walk among and through more than 50 sculptures by artist David Stromeyer. The pieces are meant to be seen from various angles and in changing light, challenging one's perceptions of space, color and form.

Sturdy walking shoes are advised, children should be supervised and no climbing on the sculptures. You can also picnic here — but leave the pooch at home. Learn more at coldhollowsculpture park.com.

Lemon Fair Sculpture Park (4547 Route 74, East Shoreham), eight miles south west of Middlebury College, is open until Nov. 1, and offers visitors a chance to encounter sculptures on a self-guided tour along a mile-long mowed walking path, starting and finishing by Route 74. Many pieces are for sale, and artists include Paul Aschenbach, Kat Clear, Joel Graesser, Nori Morimoto, Martin McGowan and others. Learn more at lemonfairsculpturepark. com.

West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park (17 Town Farm Lane, Stowe) is an indoor/outdoor art and event space. You can do the traditional gallery thing and check out the artists inside (they promote emerging and midcareer artists working in various media). The exhibits rotate. The year-round outdoor sculpture park, adjacent, features largescale works in stone, steel and bronze. Learn more at westbranchgallery.com.
